  • Hamilton resigns from Ga. Tech
    Former Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton resigned from his position at the school Wednesday, a day after he was charged with marijuana possession, driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run. The charges came about a week after the 31-year-old was hired as the school's assistant director of player personnel. "Today, I sadly accepted Joe's resignation," said Georgia Tech football coach Paul Johnson, who offered the school's support.

  • Texas QB Kinne transfers to Tulsa
    Quarterback G.J. Kinne, who was fourth on the depth chart at Texas, transferred to Tulsa on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Kinne will have to sit out next season and will be a sophomore when he becomes eligible in 2009. "We're extremely excited to have a player of G.J.'s caliber. He has been a winner his whole life. For a player of his caliber to transfer to Tulsa speaks volumes about our program and where we're are at this point," Tulsa coach Todd Graham said.

  • Seminoles' tackle Rose ruled ineligible
    Florida State offensive Daron Rose is ineligible for the season and will attend a junior college. Rose, who started 11 games last season, will attempt to regain his eligibility, school officials said Wednesday. Rose's departure is the second this week for the Seminoles, who are coming off consecutive 7-6 seasons. Sophomore linebacker Marcus Ball, another projected starter, was released from his scholarship Monday.

  • FIU hit with 4 years' probation
    Florida International was placed on four years' probation by the NCAA on Wednesday and will lose scholarships for a variety of infractions. More than 40 athletes who competed for the school from the 2002-03 through the 2006-07 academic years violated rules, said Josephine Potuto, chairwoman of the NCAA committee on infractions.
